Google Domains: Add A Record for Website at Another Host
8/17/2023
This is for a domain registered at Google Domains but the website is at another host.
Name servers must be the default Google Domains values. If different name servers are being used, that means DNS is located somewhere else.
See the screenshot showing where to add the records.
- Log into Google Domains
- For the domain sonoranendoscopy.com, click “Manage”
- Click DNS on the menu
- Verify Name Servers are set to “Use the Google Domains name servers”. If not, STOP. Contact your IT person or whoever set up email. DNS is located somewhere else.
- If this is selected: “Use the Google Domains name servers”, scroll down to the “Custom Resources Records” section.
- Add two A records and one CNAME record with the values on the screenshot.
- When adding the CNAME record, you can leave the default data value “Domain name”. It should automatically create a CNAME record with the domain followed by a period.
That’s it. Changes typically occur within an hour but can take longer.
Add A record with an “@” symbol and the host IP address.
Add A record with an asterisk “*” and the host IP address.
Add CNAME record. Leave the default value “Domain name” and it should create a CNAME record with the domain name followed by a period.
